Description

Join African Impact in Zambia or South Africa and contribute actively to the care for and rehabilitation of rescued animals. Our Animal Care and Veterinary volunteer projects are as follows:

- Wildlife Veterinary Assistance

Your responsibilities vary based on the project. You could be involved with the day-to-day running of a large sanctuary and interact with animals on a personal level. You could acquire hands-on experience in all aspects of veterinary procedures and wildlife rescue. You could also help with crucial issues like habitat destruction, poaching, and wildlife trade.

No matter the placement, you will have time to enjoy and explore different places. Leisure activities range from weekly barbecues with your volunteer team to skydiving! Rest assured you won’t run out of things to do throughout the program.

Qualifications

Most of our projects are open to unqualified volunteers who go through an orientation program on arrival to prepare them for project work. Our volunteers must have passion, an open mind and a willingness to learn, participate and contribute.

Some programs require volunteers who have already been qualified as vets, are in the process of becoming a vet (preferably minimum third-year student), or are veterinary nurses looking to gain hands-on experience on all facets of wildlife capture and veterinary procedures. With the right experience, others may be considered.
