Zimbabwe’s wildlife is very much dependent on conservation volunteer programs in helping to protect and conserve many endangered and vulnerable animals of which 70% have been lost over the past few decades. Imire – “the meeting place”, is 105km east of Harare, Zimbabwe and here is where you will find the world-renown Black Rhino Breeding Program. The program aims to successfully breed and re-introduce the rhino back into the wild. Volunteer programs further aim to protect, nurture and grow the environment, animals and surrounding communities for a prosperous future.

At the Imire conservancy you will find lion, hyena, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, various types of antelope and over 150 different species of birdlife including eagles, kingfishers and storks. The Wildlife Conservation Program gives you the opportunity to interact with wild animals in their natural habitat. You will get hands-on experience in the rhino breeding program and elephant interaction initiatives. Time spent in volunteer activities is divided between working with and observing the rhino and elephant, game park management, anti-poaching and community outreach.

• You will live in close contact with black rhino, elephants, buffalo and all the other species of wild animal on the 10,000 acre conservancy
• You will witness incredible animal relationships, hear their sounds, record vital information, and learn the appreciation of simplicity from the surrounding rural communities.
• Be a part of a world renowned program to save this ancient animal from extinction. You will play an important role in rehabilitating these endangered animals back into their natural environment.
• Experience the African bush in a very special way on this private reserve. Explore the savannah grasslands on horseback or whilst riding on African Elephants
• During your stay at Imire you will have the opportunity to enjoy an excursion to some of the other spectacular spots that Zimbabwe has to offer. These trips are also a great time for volunteers to interact and get to know each other better. The exact itinerary of the expedition can be arranged when you arrive in Zimbabwe, but will usually include a visit to Antelope Park, our lion breeding and rehabilitation program, as well as Hwange National Park and the Victoria Falls.
