Spend a semester or academic year in the classic city of Florence with AIFS. Earn up to 13 credits each semester, with an international internship for 3 credits, studying at Richmond University in Florence. No previous Italian language study is required.

Select the Internship Program to begin or advance your Italian language, gain international work experience, and study relevant coursework to your internship placement.

AIFS in Florence includes a one-week orientation before the semester begins to help you acclimate to life in Italy. Fall semester orientation is on the coast of Tuscany, while orientation for spring semester is in Rome.

You’ll live in an Italian homestay or a shared student apartment. Both housing options include a meal plan. You’ll enjoy cultural and social activities including:
• Guided city walks
• Visits to the many museums, churches and cultural sites of Florence
• Italian cooking classes
• Opera and ballet performances
• Italian cheese tastings
• A gelato tour
• Day trips to Pisa, Lucca, the Vespa Factory and more

Fall students take a 3-day trip to Rome. Spring students take a 5-day trip to Rome. All students enjoy 2-days in Venice and a day trip to Siena.

Students must meet all the required criteria for admission to Richmond, The American International University in London and have:

- enrolled at least 45 semester credits by time the program begins and enrolled in a full-time degree program
- 2.75 minimum GPA for students with at least 75 semester credits; 3.0 minimum GPA for -students with 45-74 semester credits
- a thoroughly and thoughtfully completed internship application which forms part of their -portfolio and a completed academic year and semester application
- paid or unpaid work experience during the last two years
- letter of reference from a former employer
- two letters of academic reference
- a current resumé
- students must have a minimum age of 18 by the application deadline
