Description

Join a Sea Turtle Conservation project in Greece which is now offering a two-week volunteering experience exclusively for teens aged 15 - 17. Join this hands-on project to learn about marine conservation and how human encroachment is affecting the marine habitats of the sea turtles.

This project runs during the summer which is the time that sea turtles lay their eggs and hatchlings have to make it out to sea on their own. This project aims to protect turtle nests from humans and predators which give the hatchlings the best chances for survival. Volunteers will rotate between several tasks which can include: building and installing grids to protect turtle nests, collecting bamboo to build the grids, patrolling the beach and looking for turtle tracks and more.

Highlights

1. This is one of the best volunteer opportunities for teenagers. They will learn many life skills while giving back and will have a great deal of supervision while simultaneously learning to function as individuals.

2. Volunteers will meet others with like-minded teens from around the world. Many build strong friendships and make great memories.

3. This is an ideal project for any teenager who is considering a career in marine biology, conservation or non-profit work.

4. Volunteers will work side-by-side with top conservation experts and learn a great deal of information while participating in a hands-on experience.
