Indo Ocean Project was founded by marine biologists, dive instructors, and ocean enthusiasts from around the globe to create a nationwide standardized data collection and research diver training program in Indonesia. We have been working together with dive operators, universities, NGOs and the local communities to carry out scientific research to address marine conservation issues in the Indo-Pacific area.

Combined with a Dive Master training course, interns at Indo Ocean Project gain several internationally recognized certifications to help build their resume for a career in diving or conservation. You don’t need to be a diver or scientist to apply! Our project relies on the experience and expertise of our volunteers from around the world to take action and take part.

We offer two projects in two locations in Indonesia.

The Penida Project is located on a small island off the coast of Bali and surrounded by nutrient rich waters that brings in large pelagic fish such as manta rays, mola mola (seasonal), sharks, and much more. Become a dive master at one of Indonesia's top diving destinations.

The Bira Project is located in the southern coast of South Sulawesi, and features some of the highest biodiversity of shark, ray, and predatory species in the world.
