Ready to focus your volunteer efforts on the conservation of endangered sea turtles? Join International Volunteer HQ, the world’s leading volunteer travel organization, and support our top-rated Turtle Conservation project in Costa Rica.

- Work alongside a Costa Rican biologist to assist with sea turtle studies and protection work and help with sustainable egg protection programs.

Volunteer roles vary according to the time of year, but general work includes beach patrols, building hatcheries to protect eggs from predators, beach cleaning, counting and tagging sea turtles, locating nesting females, and collecting eggs.

Volunteers pay a registration fee of US$299 which covers 24/7 support from an IVHQ program manager, online volunteer training, a comprehensive program guide, and access to deals on flights and travel insurance.

They then pay a program fee, dependent on the duration of their volunteer program, which covers accommodation and meals during volunteer placement period, airport pick up, orientation, program supervision, In-country 24/7 volunteer support and In-country administration costs. Volunteers are responsible for their own flights, visas, travel insurance and vaccinations (where required).

Typical Volunteer
The majority of our volunteers are aged between 18 and 30, but we do have many older volunteers participate on our programs (including 82 year olds!) and we welcome all volunteers regardless of their age.
