Description

IVHQ volunteers participating on the Environmental Scuba Diving project have the opportunity to assist with protection of marine life and underwater pollution clean-ups on the South Coast of Portugal. Working alongside a local diving school with a specific emphasis on local environmental protection, volunteer tasks will include learning about the marine ecosystem, observing and identifying fish and cleaning rubbish from the sea floor. This project is open to all skill levels of Open Water diving.

Volunteers pay a registration fee of US$299 which covers 24/7 support from an IVHQ program manager, online volunteer training, a comprehensive program guide, and access to deals on flights and travel insurance.

They then pay a program fee, dependent on the duration of their volunteer program, which covers accommodation during volunteer placement period, breakfast and lunch, airport pick up, orientation, program supervision, In-country 24/7 volunteer support and In-country administration costs. Volunteers also receive PADI Open Water and Advanced Open Water Dive Certification as part of the program costs. Volunteers are responsible for their own flights, visas, travel insurance and vaccinations (where required).
