Description

Volunteer abroad in Cambodia, taking on a capacity-building role while working with an NGO. This is a great opportunity if you have training and experience in public health. You will assist in improving the level of support and service that NGOs provide to communities. With the people of Siem Reap in desperate need of better access to nutrition, dentistry and health programs, your participation in this project will be very much appreciated.

The role and functions of NGOs vary, with some providing residential or daycare for children. Some give advice to victims of domestic abuse and others offer health, nutrition, and dental hygiene advice. These organizations would like to improve their team skills. Some groups, on the other hand, currently don’t have a qualified staff to educate their clients about these issues. Hence, they would like to set up education programs within these areas.

Experienced volunteers or those in the final year of their studies in medicine, public health, nutrition, or dentistry are required for these placements. They are expected to work well with others, be patient, and able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity to make the most of their experience.

The temples are spread over a wide area and can be accessed by bicycle or tuk tuk. Whether you wish to spend a day or a week, simply buy your pass and visit these splendid attractions. They are best visited at sunrise or sunset as it can be rather hot during the midday sun.

Sights and sounds of Phnom Penh, Cambodia's capital

For those of you wishing get away from it all why not head out to the Tonle Sap. Take an evening river cruise or enjoy the late afternoon with a ride along this impressive lake which provides water and fish to the local communities. Why not head out to the floating village and see the community built on stilts; quite a sight to enjoy. But beware, the water levels vary greatly between seasons because of the intensity of the heat and the amount of rainfall experienced in the region.
