Whether you’re a medical student or practitioner, your skills are needed in Sri Lanka! Sign up for this volunteering opportunity and make a tangible impact on the lives of people from impoverished communities.

Medical placements are only available in Badulla. Here basic medical centers are located inside the tea plantations, providing medical treatment for Tamil tea workers. Volunteers support resident doctors and nurses to carry out their daily routine.

Volunteers with medical or nursing backgrounds are encouraged to apply for this program, and those who can provide their medical certificates will be assisting the resident doctor, visiting families and helping with awareness sessions, engaging in daily activities at the health center, educating about effects of alcohol, smoking etc., and working with pregnant mothers at the medical clinic.

Badulla is located in the north of Sri Lanka. To get there, volunteers will need to take a 12 hour scenic train ride from Colombo. This journey takes you through some of the most amazing scenery this beautiful country has to offer, and is highly recommended!

As with all of our wonderful projects in Sri Lanka, volunteers are accommodated with one of our friendly local host families, where 2-3 home-cooked meals are provided daily.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and may sign up individually, as couples or in groups. The primary prerequisite: to come motivated to help those in need. A reasonable level of English is also required.
