Medical Internship in Thailand

Location: Thailand: Bangkok, Chiang Mai

Program Duration: 2-4 Weeks, 5-8 Weeks, 9-12 Weeks

Dates: Year Round

PO Box. 199 Pukekohe, Auckland 2679 New Zealand

Thailand is fast gaining a reputation in the west for its prowess in the field of medicine. In fact the country attracts more ‘medical tourists’ than any other country in Asia with hundreds of thousands traveling to seek cost-effective medical treatments every year.

Through our local partners, Love Volunteers offers Medical Internships in a number of notable private and public full-service hospitals in both Bangkok and Chiang Mai. In all cases, volunteers or interns are able to work closely with a supervising physician, and are paired with a full-time doctor who they will shadow on daily rounds. Interns are only placed with doctors with an exceptional command of English. These are highly qualified professionals, many of whom have been educated in the United States or the United Kingdom.

Intern responsibilities vary according to their own qualifications, experience and/or comfort level. Participants with a full medical degree will often enjoy far more access when it comes to administering care and interacting with patients, but it is important to note that most interns only observe or help out with very minor tasks.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old at the start of their placement and have completed a secondary school qualification. For English teaching a good level of English is required.

Volunteers in Thailand should be able to devote themselves to a full working week. Contact us for more details or apply to volunteer in Thailand now!
