This incredible opportunity to help conserve some of Africa's most intriguing and spectacular species in a stunning environment. Wild rhinos had been poached to extinction in the 1980s by illegal hunters. The sanctuary has been aiming to repopulate the rhino numbers in Uganda and has seen the sanctuary numbers triple in size since its inception in 2005. In these few years, impressive progress has been made. The sanctuary has the aim to eventually release these animals back into the wild.

The two-week project will enrich you as a person and you will come away with an in-depth understanding of Uganda, rhinos, and conservation. You will be helping with a wide range of tasks at the sanctuary including rhino monitoring, game spotting and identification, construction and maintenance patrols, removal of invasive species, community education and outreach activities and data collection. All these tasks are essential to the survival of the rhinos and running of the sanctuary.

To finish a fantastic week volunteering, the staff treats you to a three-day rustic safari to Murchison Falls National Park to spot the rest of the Big 5 and the beautiful waterfall.
