We are looking for volunteers to join the team to support vital work helping to protect wild elephants.

The project is unique in Sri Lanka as their award-winning model focuses on researching wild elephants whilst working with the community to help them live peacefully together. You will assist their research to increase the understanding and knowledge of the 300+ elephants and other wildlife including sloth bears, leopards and jungle cats, living in the surrounding area.

Join this inspirational project if you would like to get involved in helping wild elephant and wildlife conservation in Sri Lanka.

Each day will differ but volunteer tasks include helping with:

* Elephant monitoring and observations
* Camera traps
* Bird and wildlife research on transect walks
* Monitoring fences and elephant paths
* Building and mending community
* Interviewing villagers

The volunteer house is in a stunning rural location overlooking a lake and is nestled below the Knuckles mountain range. An afternoon trip to the National Park is included in your volunteer placement where you can see elephants, water buffalo, and maybe even purple-faced langurs, bears and a leopard!
