Volunteering on a Care project in Samoa is a great way to get involved with the local community of this intriguing and welcoming island nation in the South Pacific. Volunteers of all levels can contribute, whether on a gap year, summer abroad, or volunteer vacation.

Volunteers with any relevant qualifications and experience are encouraged to join, but you do not need to have either to volunteer. Energy and a commitment to the local children and the work at hand are the only requirements!

Our Care placements are based in and around Samoa’s capital, Apia, on the coast of Upolu island. Volunteers work in kindergartens, special needs centers, or with disabled children in classes within mainstream schools.

Volunteers working at the kindergartens provide local staff with a helping hand, looking after and caring for the children. It is also the perfect opportunity to put any skills and interests you have to use. You could organize arts and crafts activities or teach games and songs to the children - your suggestions will always be well received. By showing initiative and enthusiasm the options available are endless.

The work with the disabled children can be demanding, but also very rewarding. Spending one-on-one time with children with extra needs can really help to boost their confidence and social progress. Simply helping them to write their name or playing a game in the garden is making a difference in their lives.
