Travel to the Dominican Republic with Putney Student Travel and volunteer in a small village with your peers. Collaborate with local friends from the village on a variety of projects including building, farming, and English lessons for local kids.

In addition to service, experience all the Dominican Republic has to offer, from a rich culture to pristine, beautiful beaches. Spend time in UNESCO World Heritage Sites around Santo Domingo. Take day trips to the stunning mountains of the Cordillera Central and the clear turquoise water surrounding the Samana Peninsula.

Enjoy authentic Dominican pastimes such as baseball games, dancing to bachata music, or dominoes in the town square. End your service program with three days on the Samana Peninsula with your new friends, snorkeling, exploring, and hiking from your base at an ecolodge.

* Design lesson plans and teach English to a class of excited grade school children.
* Work with a local jewelry maker to fashion larimar stones into attractive pieces.
* Learn to make the traditional plantain dishes, mangu and mofongo.
* Organize a community baseball tournament and cheer on the team with Dominican spectators.
* Hike into the lush surrounding mountains to swim in a refreshing spring-fed swimming hole.
