Shark & Marine Research Institute (SMRI) is calling all early career scientists and budding Marine Biologists to join our Ranks and help protect our endangered and vulnerable shark species.
SMRI was founded with the aim of obtaining critically required baseline data via a variety of species-specific research projects, utilizing specialized scientific techniques to understand the unique ecology of the local coastline.
With the Great White Shark teetering dangerously close to extinction, SMRI is actively monitoring the population to better understand the various threats facing these magnificent creatures.
SMRI works closely with the Local Government and aims to effect change in the local legislature to enable the protection of the entire ecosystem, to put an end to the numerous threats facing our beloved sharks.
We are also passionately involved in our local communities through education and outreach initiatives.
Joining us is a life changing experience – whether you wish to further your career in Marine Science through active participation in the field, or to find out if Marine Biology is the direction you desire your career to take – then this programme is for you!
