At the state hospital of León, placements are possible at all common departments, such as pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, emergency room, and internal medicine. The hospital was founded in 1969 and is a teaching hospital, affiliated with the medical faculty of the local university. The hospital serves a large number of patients, about 20,000 per year. Patients are mainly from deprived social backgrounds and depend on the state healthcare system. Common diseases include tropical diseases, cardiac and circulatory problems, respiratory diseases, hepatopathy, kidney disorders, and diabetes.

The school is attended by about 130 children and adolescents between four years and 18 years with physical, visual, hearing, or mental disabilities, including Down syndrome, autism, visual and hearing impairments, paraplegia, and learning difficulties.
