Description

Despite Nicaragua producing well-known authors like Sergio Ramírez, Ruben Darío, and Gioconda Belli, reading is not a widespread activity. The Minibiblioteca, a project in León, changes this by giving both children and adults access to books to pique their interest. The project also provides after-school care and homework support to kids from tough social backgrounds. It conducts creative educational workshops as well.

Become part of this wonderful movement by signing up as a volunteer for four weeks to one year. Contribute to the Minibiblioteca’s mission to make people in León read. You will assist with the management of "Biblio-Moto", a mobile library that extends services to hospitals, health centers, schools, and local markets across the city. Apart from stimulating creativity and interest in books, the project aims to help locals remember significant cultural topics, including historical events and Nicaraguan legends.

The Minibiblioteca also uses interactive materials to teach different topics creatively and playfully. You will take part in this initiative, working with children ages 6-12 and helping with their homework. You will read and play together or engage in activities, such as music, dance, or theater.
